Sheikh Jassim has picked out three signings he wants at Manchester United, claims reporter

Manchester United may look to bring Kylian Mbappe, Kingsley Coman and Eduardo Camavinga to the Premier League if Sheikh Jassim completes his Qatari takeover at Old Trafford.

That is according to Christian Falk; the BILD reporter making some rather big claims on Twitter as Sheikh Jassim and Sir Jim Ratcliffe compete to free one of European football’s biggest clubs from the shackles of Glazer ownership.

If Jassim is successful, Falk reports that Manchester United could make ambitious approaches for three very big names.

France internationals Coman and Mbappe, currently under contract at Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain, are reportedly at the top of the wishlist. PSG, you may have noticed, is under Qatari control too. As such, the prospect of Mbappe crossing the Channel has already been mooted by many an excited supporter.

Real Madrid’s Camavinga, meanwhile, is up there with the most exciting young midfielders anywhere in the game. A man who has won almost there is to win at club level, despite only turning 20 last November.

“The Qatari’s Sheikh Jassim Group want to go for Kingsley Coman, Camavinga and Kylian Mbappe,” Falk tweets. “If their takeover of Manchester United is successful.”

Sheikh Jassim has big plans at Manchester United

Now, at the risk of raining on your collective parade, links like these must be subject to scrutiny. Manchester United may be a modern-day money-making behemoth from a commercial perspective but even the Red Devils are not immune to Financial Fair Play concerns.

And, even if United do free up funds by getting the likes of Scott McTominay, Dean Henderson and Harry Maguire off the books, the fees and wages that would have to be devoted to bringing in Mbappe, Coman and Camavinga are likely to be well beyond United’s means. Certainly in the space of one summer.

And how would Ten Hag react to finding out that – almost like Graham Potter at Chelsea – he has suddenly been handed with three big name stars and told to find a place for them in his team? Three who would arrive expecting a first-team spot?

As Freddie Mercury once sang; ‘Is this real? Or is this just fantasy?’

Media briefings and popularity-spinning PR are a favoured weapon of many in takeover talks such as these. And the truth, in the end, will out.
