Newcastle’s stance on signing Marcus Rashford as Man Utd star circled by Premier League clubs

Marcus Rashford may have to explore other options this summer as Barcelona refuse to pay Manchester United their asking price.

Despite Marcus Rashford winning La Liga and starring for Barcelona in his 2025/26 loan, the Spanish giants do not want to pay his £26m release clause.

In fact, Barcelona want to pay around half of Rashford’s asking price to make his move permanent. Their financial constraints did not stop them from spending £70m on Anthony Gordon, however.

Now, Rashford is set to return to United this summer and he will have to explore other options, including a potential Premier League move.

What’s YOUR message to Marcus Rashford after Barcelona’s deal for Anthony Gordon?

Should Man Utd use this reality check to try and bring Rashford back?

How Newcastle feel about signing Marcus Rashford

According to iNews, there are several Premier League clubs showing interest in Marcus Rashford, with Newcastle, Tottenham and Aston Villa all credited with interest.

Arsenal and Chelsea have also shown interest in Rashford, so it seems he could have options this summer.

However, The Chronicle claim that the links to Newcastle are weak, with club chiefs believing their name has been thrown in to try and drum up interest.

Rashford was cited as a potential replacement for Gordon at St James’ Park, but his £325,000 per week wages at United make a transfer deal very unlikely.

Newcastle are also not in any European competition next season after an underwhelming campaign under Eddie Howe.

Marcus Rashford’s future will likely be decided after the World Cup

With the 2026 World Cup just around the corner, Rashford’s full focus will be on the summer tournament.

Rashford is in the England squad after fighting his way back into Thomas Tuchel’s plans, having dropped out during his slump at United.

A successful summer tournament for the Three Lions could boost Rashford’s value and drum up even more interest, putting United in a strong negotiating position.

Considering Rashford is under contract until 2028, United always have the option of reintegrating him into Michael Carrick’s side, although it seems he is determined to play his football away from Old Trafford.
