Michael Essien predicts a big summer for Caleb Yirenkyi
Essien was at the Soccer Aid press day and spoke with TikTok account Lloyd Canfield FC about his picks for the World Cup this summer.
In his answers, it became clear he thought United target Caleb Yirenkyi will steal the show at this summer’s tournament for Ghana.
First, Essien was asked who will be the best young player at the World Cup this summer.
“One of the boys I work with, Caleb Yirenkyi”, Essien declared about his compatriot.

Then, he was asked who the one player is that people don’t know about but will after their performances in the World Cup.
“Probably, they will know about Caleb Yirenkyi”, Essien said with a smile.
How much do you think Man Utd will spend in this window?
It can be revealed that £243m will already be leaving Old Trafford this summer…
Yirenkyi could be a smart signing for Manchester United this summer
While not likely to be a starter for United this season or next, signing Yirenkyi this summer with the view to him replacing Ederson long term would be wise for United.
Long-term planning is how United can finally sustain success, and Yirenkyi promises to be a brilliant midfielder, given that he is learning the position under Essien at Nordsjaelland right now.
Yirenkyi wouldn’t cost a lot, and his qualities are absolutely suited to Premier League football in the long term.
At 20, Yirenkyi is heavily linked with Porto right now, and if United don’t sign him this summer, he will soon become a £50m player.
He could potentially be a cheaper version of Carlos Baleba for United to sign this summer, with the same midfield athleticism and defensive qualities, while also being excellent on the ball, both passing and carrying.
Potentially a great signing for United.
