Matheus Cunha makes Manchester United transfer stance absolutely clear as Arsenal show their interest

Manchester United are looking to tie up the signing of Wolverhampton Wanders star Matheus Cunha with the summer transfer window looming.

There are no prizes for guessing where Manchester United’s transfer priority lies this summer.

United have struggled for goals all season and must commit funds to signing attacking players.

United lost 1-0 to Wolves on Sunday, drawing a blank for the third game in the last four Premier League outings.

Ruben Amorim was spotted chatting to Matheus Cunha in the tunnel, leaving United fans believing that a move for the Wolves ace is on the cards.

Sure enough, reports on Monday suggested that United are closing in on Cunha having discussed personal terms over a deal.

Matheus Cunha ‘loves’ United amid Saudi Arabia interest

Cunha is being viewed as a number 10 addition for Amorim, and looks perfect for his 3-4-2-1 system.

The Brazilian has hit 14 goals and four assists for Wolves this season and can leave thanks to a £62.5million release clause in his contract.

Reports on Tuesday suggested that United want to pay Cunha’s release clause and also trigger a deal for Ipswich Town’s Liam Delap.

Sky Sports reporter Kaveh Solekhel now claims three Premier League rivals also want to sign Cunha.

Arsenal and Aston Villa have held ‘exploratory talks’ over a move to sign Cunha, whilst Saudi Arabian clubs now want to trigger his release clause.

That may sound concerning, but Solekhol hammered home that Cunha ‘loves United’ and has seemingly made up his mind that he wants a move to Old Trafford.

United still have to get the deal done, but Cunha’s stance is a huge indication that a move to Manchester is on the cards.

United still need a striker after Cunha deal

Some will question Cunha’s exact role, having played as both a striker and as an attacking midfielder at Wolves.

We think Cunha is being solely viewed as an attacking midfielder at United and his arrival would not rule out a new striker arriving.

That is why United are eyeing Delap, seemingly looking for Cunha to help supply a new striker.

Victor Osimhen remains a United target, too, with Ineos ready to spend on attacking reinforcements this summer.

Cunha looks most likely to come through the door first, but don’t be surprise to see another attacker follow him to Old Trafford this summer.
