Marcus Rashford will love Man Utd’s £20m target, they could be a dangerous duo

Manchester United are eyeing up a new midfielder this summer after Manuel Ugarte talks faltered.

Due to this, the hunt for Manchester United’s new midfielder has continued, with there being at least 10 options considered as alternatives to Ugarte.

Whoever is chosen as the latest arrival will be tasked with complimenting Kobbie Mainoo in midfield after last season saw Erik ten Hag struggle to find a partner for the 19-year-old.

But the player who is brought in will still need to play a key role in the team, and the latest name added to the list is Sander Berge.

The Norweigan is valued at £20m by United, and he’d bring an impressive quality which could benefit Marcus Rashford.

Why Marcus Rashford will love playing with Sander Berge

Rashford will be watching with excitement as rumours begin to suggest that Berge will be the next midfield arrival at United.

This primarily is due to Berge’s long ball ability which could leave Rashford dreaming of all the balls in behind he could receive with the Norweigan in midfield.

Last season in the Premier League, Berge demonstrated his passing ability perfectly with 125 long passes completed out of 154 attempts which is an 81% accuracy.

This placed him as the second-best in the league at doing so last season behind only Rodri of Man City. Not a bad player to be second place to.

This could leave Rashford excited as he so often would make runs in behind only to not be found by Casemiro, Sofyan Amrabat or Scott McTominay for example.

Berge to Rashford could therefore be a link to keep an eye on next season if the deal ends up materialising.

Marcus Rashford set for pivotal season

After a dismal 2023/24, this coming campaign could not be more important to Rashford and his Old Trafford career.

Rumours earlier this summer suggested that Ineos were not convinced about the academy graduate – but he now looks set to at least survive this summer, but he needs to improve.

We all know how good Rashford can be when he is in form and his form tends to coincide with United being in form as well which can be seen over the past two seasons.

During 2022/23 Rashford was incredible and he will be keen to get back to that level – if United are in for a good season, we imagine he will play a big role.
