Manchester United are reportedly closing in on the signing of Bruno Fernandes. Yes, finally.
Just as we thought it was all over. It might finally be happening.
Here is a look at how key media outlets reported the breakthrough.
The Times report: “On Tuesday, United improved their offer so that in addition to the €55 million there were €10 million in bonuses that are highly likely to be triggered and a further €15 million in clauses that are less likely, including winning the Ballon d’Or.”
Fabrizio Romano stopped short of his now iconic ‘here we go’, but he tweeted that United are ‘confident’ the deal will get done.
Rob Dawson of ESPN reported there has been a ‘significant breakthrough’ in talks.
When there are this many reliable outlets reporting the same news, you have to feel positive the deal will finally get done.
What is being reported in Portugal?
National newspaper O Jogo first reported United’s interest earlier in the month and they are also running an update on the latest developments.
The newspaper report: “Bruno Fernandes is ready to head to Manchester tomorrow.”
The report adds that pending personal terms being finalised, Fernandes will sign a five-and-a-half year deal.

Great news
This is a big relief to United, on the condition it finally gets done.
Should the deal collapse now, which looks unlikely, it would be embarrassing and heartbreaking for all involved.
Anything is possible at this late stage, but this really is great news.
The only disappointment is that it could not have been done weeks ago, and given United more time to add a striker and defensive midfielder too.
But having braced for the possibility no players would arrive, we are just glad to be on the verge of finally getting one, the one we really wanted.
