Marcus Rashford has impressed Rio Ferdinand with his cameo appearance for England against Croatia.
While he wouldn’t have been happy to start on the bench, Marcus Rashford made his point on the pitch with an impressive performance to stake a claim to start the next game.
Rashford got on the scoresheet in the 4-2 win, with his goal putting the result beyond doubt.
Rio Ferdinand was impressed outside of just the goal, noticing one reason United should be seriously contemplating taking him back this summer.

Rio Ferdinand wants Marcus Rashford to have another go at Manchester United
Previously, Ferdinand was on board with Rashford leaving as he thought it was best for both parties. But now he has made a U-turn because of one change he’s noticed with the United forward.
Speaking on the Rio Ferdinand Presents YouTube channel after the England game, he explained why.
“Manchester United might have to reevaluate Marcus Rashford’s situation.
“It seems like he has matured; the time away from the club may have done him the good that he needed, and it has cleansed both parties. Is it time to shake hands and come back?”
Rashford certainly seems like a far more mature player now than he was 18 months ago, willing to work harder and put himself after the good of the team.
However, the question would have to be whether Michael Carrick can get this out of him. He probably could, but the risk would be that he falls into similar habits.
But if he buys into Carrick’s system and plays how he has for Barcelona and England, there isn’t a left-winger on the market better.
Marcus Rashford evidently does not want to return to Man Utd – There is no way back for him surely?!

Ferdinand credits Barcelona with Rashford’s maturity
Rashford playing like more of a system player, with his maturity allowing him to accept this, is due to Hansi Flick, as he demands complete adherence from his players, and Rashford has learned a lot.
Ferdinand credits the Barcelona move with improving Rashford.
“I think with Marcus Rashford, you can see the maturity, and you can see that Barcelona phase of his career has worked out in a way that he now understands his role.
“He was given a role at Barcelona, told he would be an impact player at times, to come on and change games. At England, that is his role, and that’s a huge asset to the squad in this competition.
“When you are an opposing full-back, and you see Marcus Rashford warming up at 75 minutes, you are looking over to the bench and saying, ‘Please get my number ready and take me off, I’m subbing myself out because I don’t want that smoke’.
“You don’t want that smoke at the start of the game, let alone in the 75th minute.”
