Manchester United are gearing up to welcome new head coach Ruben Amorim and fans are already wondering about his potential signings.

Manchester United fans everywhere will have been glued to the TV on Tuesday evening.

United appointed Ruben Amorim as head coach last week, luring him away from Portuguese side Sporting.

Erik ten Hag was axed by United last week and Amorim has quickly been landed as his successor.

Amorim has been allowed to manage Sporting until the international break though, meaning he was on the touchline against Pep Guardiola and Manchester City on Tuesday night.

Sporting racked up a stunning 4-1 victory as Amorim said goodbye to the Sporting faithful ahead of his move to Old Trafford.

Ruben Amorim would ‘love’ to sign Sporting star

Amorim became the first boss to score four goals against City in the Champions League since 2016 as his Sporting side produced a remarkable display.

This result was always going to spark hype around United with fans desperate for some hope from the Amorim era.

Amorim has yet to start work at Old Trafford but United fans are already dreaming of potential signings.

United supporters have fallen in love with Viktor Gyokeres but Amorim may have his eyes on another Sporting star.

The Telegraph report that Amorin ‘would love’ to work with Sporting talent Geovany Quenda again having overseen his development in Lisbon.

Reports in October highlighted that United were already interested in Quenda having scouted him on multiple occasions this season.

Quenda is understood to fancy a Premier League move and Amorim’s move to United only adds to the belief that he will end up at Old Trafford.

The 17-year-old has an £83million release clause in his contract and has flourished as a winger and even as a wing back under Amorim.

Amorim has praised Quenda as ‘very talented’ and these reports may well see the teenager emerged as a bigger priority over Gyokeres.

Geovany Quenda compared to Bukayo Saka

Amorim will be mindful of raiding Sporting and we can’t see him trying to snatch his former players in January.

The new United boss may prefer to wait until the summer but Quenda could be a prime target come the end of the season.

The Manchester Evening News claim that United are indeed interested in signing Quenda.

They even add that Portuguese sources are comparing Quenda to Arsenal star Bukayo Saka, who is one of the Premier League’s very best players.

Saka previously played as a wing back, just like Quenda, and the Sporting star’s work ethic is believed to be similar to Saka’s.

Reaching Saka’s level is a challenge in itself but United may well pounce for Quenda and reunite him with Amorim in 2025.
