Premier League giants Manchester United have officially missed out on a ‘young striker with enormous potential’ as Jonah Kusi-Asare joins Harry Kane at Bayern Munich.
Last month HITC Football reported that despite interest from not only Manchester United but from Chelsea, Ajax and Borussia Dortmund too, Bayern Munich were set to win the race for a teenage striker who already has four first-team appearances under his belt before his 16th birthday.
And that came to pass on the penultimate day of the window, Bayern Munich officially confirming that Jonah Kusi-Asare will be honing his considerable talents in Bavaria rather than in the red of Manchester United.

Bayern beat Manchester United in striker race
“Jonah Kusi-Asare is a young striker with enormous potential,” beams sporting director Christoph Freund (above), who has already snapped up Eric Dier from Tottenham and Galatasaray right-back Sacha Boey this winter and could eventually stump up £5.5 million for the striker.
“He had several offers. But (he) chose FC Bayern because we convinced him about how we want to build and develop him here.
“He has all the attributes. He’s technically strong, fast, tall, very robust for his age and an excellent finisher. We’re very pleased that he’ll be playing for FC Bayern in the future.”
HITC had reported that Manchester United were very impressed by what they had seen in the 6ft 5ins Kusi-Asare, who burst onto the Scandinavian scene with AIK Stockholm.
As far as the Sweden youth star is concerned, however, he is joining the ‘biggest club’ on planet earth in Thomas Tuchel’s six-time European Champions.

“It’s an indescribable feeling. I’m very happy to be at, in my eyes, the biggest club in the world and to have signed here. It’s a special day for me,” Kusi-Asare enthuses.
“I’m a big and physically strong player. I’m at home in the middle and like to look for the finish. My strength in the air and the ability to shoot with both feet help me in my game.”
Man United have been linked with plenty of strikers themselves this month – including Bayern’s own Eric-Maxim Choupo-Moting. Deadline day at Old Trafford is likely to be about departures rather than arrivals, however, with the Werder Bremen-bound Isak Hansen-Aaroen seemingly joining Kusi-Asare in the Bundesliga.
Facundo Pellistri became the tenth player to leave United on loan this month when he joined Granada on Wednesday night.
