Manchester United are saying goodbye to two centre-backs this summer, which could tempt Ruben Amorim into signing another.

So much of the focus at Manchester United right now revolves around attacking players.

Matheus Cunha has agreed to join United from Wolverhampton Wanderers in a major addition to Ruben Amorim’s attacking options.

United also want Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo, but emphasis could be placed on finding another centre-back.

Jonny Evans has announced his retirement, while Victor Lindelof is leaving Old Trafford at the end of his contract this summer.

United invested in Matthijs de Ligt and Leny Yoro last summer but could spend on another central defender in this window.

Manchester United interested in signing Roma’s Evan Ndicka

Lisandro Martinez’s injury could be key, with the Argentinian a long-term absentee on the left side of United’s defence.

Ayden Heaven has major potential, but United may want to invest in another left-footed defender for Amorim’s three-man backline.

RMC Sport in France now report that United are interested in snapping up Roma defender Evan Ndicka this summer.

It’s suggested that Tottenham Hotspur are also in the mix for Ndicka, who has impressed in Serie A since joining Roma from Eintracht Frankfurt in 2023.

Roma’s sporting director at the time, Tiago Pinto, was quoted by Roma Press as saying that Ndicka has ‘infinite potential’ – and we are really seeing this come true as he continues to shine in Italy.

United are believed to have made enquiries into signing Ndicka, with Roma valuing him in the region of €40million (£33.7million).

The 25-year-old was born in France and started his career in the Auxerre ranks, but now plays for the Ivory Coast on the international stage.

Ndicka has played on the left side of a back three in Rome, meaning he may be an ideal fit for Amorim’s defence.

Ndicka wants time to weigh up his options, but the 6ft 4in defender is a player to watch as United weigh up another defensive addition.

United could launch double raid on Roma

Ndicka is not the only Roma player on United’s radar.

Reports suggest that United are keen on goalkeeper Mile Svilar, whose contract talks are yet to be resolved in the Eternal City.

Andre Onana struggled this past season and Serbian stopper Svilar has become one of the top rising stoppers in Europe.

Roma have just appointed Gian Piero Gasperini as their new manager; the former Atalanta boss takes over after Claudio Ranieri’s brilliant spell in charge.

Gasperini won’t want to lose key men such as Svilar and Ndicka, but Roma may need to sell in order to reinvest.

United are looking at both Svilar and Ndicka, potentially ready to raid Roma for two important signings for Amorim’s revolution.
