Man Utd watching three potential right wing-back signings in La Liga with doubts over key position

Manchester United are keeping track of three right-backs in La Liga, with a view to future transfers.

Ruben Amorim’s system is dependent on wing-backs, and on the left, Manchester United signed Lecce prospect Patrick Dorgu earlier this year.

On the right, United have pushed attacker Amad into the role due to a surplus of number 10s, while Noussair Mazraoui can also play as one of the back three.

The odd man out is former Porto defender Diogo Dalot, who has been at United since 2018.

Dalot was needed to start at the weekend as neither Amad nor Mazraoui were available, and played poorly, being criticised for ‘ball watching’ for one of Brentford’s goals.

So it comes as no surprise Manchester United are looking at signing another right-back, having also pursued Geovany Quenda prior to his move to Chelsea.

Manchester United want La Liga trio

United In Focus understands via transfer insider Graeme Bailey that Manchester United are assessing three potential options at the position.

United have watched Real Sociedad full-back Jon Aramburu, who has also attracted the attention of Manchester City.

He adds that United are also watching Atletico Madrid’s Nahuel Molina and Espanyol defender Omar El Hilali.

Bailey adds: “United are not downplaying the fact they are considering other wing back options in 2026, it is one to keep an eye on.

“It does not appear that Diogo Dalot has a long-term future, and if he goes then they clearly need more and is the Amad experiment on the right working? I’m not sure.”

All three players are internationals for their countries, with Molina already racking up 54 caps for Argentina, and was part of their 2022 World Cup winning squad.

United are just at the early stages of casting the net out for potential signings, but it is very interesting to note that right-back is a position the club are taking a look at.
