Manchester United appear to be moving quickly for potential summer signings as Ruben Amorim looks to bolster his squad.

The end of the season is now in sight and Manchester United still have something to play for in Europe.

United’s dramatic 5-4 win over Lyon last week means Ruben Amorim could still secure Champions League qualification for next season.

That would seriously boost United’s power in the transfer market, with targets already emerging for the summer.

Reports suggest United want to sign Matheus Cunha and Liam Delap, seemingly preparing to trigger their release clauses.

Attacking additions appear to be the top priority for United, with one more target becoming a key focus.

Manchester United chasing River Plate’s Franco Mastantuono

River Plate talent Franco Mastantuono has been linked with United for a while now.

Reports many months ago suggested United wanted Mastantuono ahead of Real Madrid, believing that he could become a superstar.

The 17-year-old continues to shine in Argentina and United are considering signing Mastantuono this summer.

Argentinian reporter Cesar Luis Merlo now claims that United are showing the strongest interest of any team in Mastantuono.

Merlo claims that United are ‘constantly following’ Mastantuono with a view to a summer transfer.

The problem is that River Plate are completely refusing to sell for anything below Mastantuono’s €45million (£38.5million) release clause.

United would be committing almost £100million if those Cunha and Delap deals go through, meaning the fee for Mastantuono may be a little prohibitive.

‘Manchester United is the club that has shown the greatest interest in Franco Mastantuono with a view to his possible signing in the middle of the year,’ said Merlo.

‘They’ve seen him on the pitch and they’re constantly following him. They already know that the only way for him to leave River is by paying the € 45M release clause,’ he added.

Manchester United could launch double raid on River Plate

Mastantuono predominantly plays as a number 10 or right winger, cutting in on his left foot to cause mayhem.

The teenager has already hit six goals and five assists in 53 first-team games for River Plate and is considered to be one of their top talents in recent memory.

That is a huge billing for Mastantuono, given that the likes of Javier Mascherano, Exequiel Palacios, Erik Lamela and Gonzalo Higuain have emerged through their ranks.

Mastantuono isn’t alone, though, and United may yet launch a double raid on the Argentinian side.

United are in talks to sign Ian Subiabre from River Plate, another attacking player emerging in their ranks.

Subiabre has yet to take on a key first-team role like Mastantuono, but is still considered to be a star of the future.

United may hope to sign both talents in the near future – but must be prepared to pay a hefty price.
