Manchester United’s transfer business under Ineos has seen great improvements, with one very simple rule being followed.

Gone are the days of Manchester United spending entire summers chasing players who don’t really want the move, such as the Frenkie de Jong saga.

Ineos has changed this entirely for the better, with the arrivals last summer all following a simple plan to only sign players who wanted to be at Old Trafford.

Both Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha spoke, upon joining, of their admiration for United sides of the past. As did Benjamin Sesko and Senne Lammens, who were United fans.

Now, one summer target has done the same.

Mateus Fernandes admits his dream to play with Cristiano Ronaldo at Manchester United

One of the most exciting midfield targets this summer is Mateus Fernandes, with the West Ham star set to depart the Hammers after their likely relegation.

United are pushing toward signing Fernandes, and in a timely manner, the Portuguese midfielder has admitted his admiration for the Red Devils.

Speaking on the Premier League’s YouTube channel, Fernandes was asked which football era he would want to play in if he were able to travel back in time, his response was clear.

“Cristiano [Ronaldo] in Manchester. What he did was unbelievable, and Cristiano was amazing. So that era.”

Fernandes admitting his love for Ronaldo in his United days is a big indicator of how he would feel about making a move to Old Trafford this summer.

Cunha also spoke of the 2008 United with praise upon joining the club, and this just proves Fernandes would fit in like a glove.

Fernandes has passed one big test for new signings for United these days.

Mateus Fernandes also admires Bruno Fernandes

Another indication of Fernandes’ favouring a move to United is that he has spoken highly of Bruno Fernandes.

Mateus Fernandes hailed Bruno Fernandes recently in an interview, idolising the United captain who, like him, came from Sporting CP.

“The biggest one right now is Bruno [Fernandes] because of the player he already is.

“Back when I was at Sporting, I looked up to him and tried to learn from him. He plays in the same league as me, he has a lot of experience with the national team, and, in the Premier League, I try to watch him a lot. Without a doubt, he stands out.”

Additionally, Bruno Fernandes has endorsed the signing of Mateus Fernandes, which speaks to how the admiration also goes the other way.

Unlike with Ronaldo, Mateus can play alongside Bruno, and so he will likely be very keen to join United if Ineos can stump up West Ham’s demand.
