Man Utd-linked attacker shares agent with Ten Hag and Hojlund

Manchester United have been linked with a move for Borussia Dortmund forward Donyell Malen amid a strong link with his agent.

United need to sort out the Jadon Sancho situation in January.

Sancho hasn’t kicked a ball for United since the end of the summer transfer window having been frozen out by Erik ten Hag.

The best step for everybody involved is for Sancho to move on in January, whether that is on loan or in the summer.

One rumour last week suggested that United could send Sancho back to former club Borussia Dortmund in exchange for Donyell Malen.

Sancho may well fancy a return to Dortmund but it’s unclear just how strongly United would want Malen.

The former Arsenal talent has blown hot and cold at Dortmund and you have to question if he would help United enough to justify a move.

There is an interesting factor here though and it is the presence of Kees Vos.

Agent Vos represents Malen as part of his role in charge of Sports Entertainment Group.

Vos has been a prominent name in United circles for a while now having played a key role in the club’s summer transfer business.

Vos crucially represents boss Ten Hag as well as striker Rasmus Hojlund, and he even helped bring Sofyan Amrabat to Old Trafford on deadline day.

Reports in September indicated that Vos had been a ‘noticeable presence’ around Carrington having been an ‘occasional visitor’ to United’s training ground.

Vos seemingly has some level of influence at United and links to another one of his clients will raise eyebrows.

Would United want Malen?

Ten Hag will certainly know all about Malen from his time with PSV Eindhoven and in the Netherlands national team.

There are a couple of major selling points with Malen, the first being his speed.

The 24-year-old has been described as ‘extremely fast’ by Mario Gotze and that ability could be utilised in Ten Hag’s transition-heavy approach.

The other attraction may be Malen’s versatility as he can play as a striker or out on the right flank.

Those are two positions where United need options and having somebody like Malen – who can play in both positions – could appeal, rather than signing two players.

We have to be honest though and Malen’s lack of consistent impact at Dortmund doesn’t really project well for the Premier League.

Malen has now hit 24 goals and 16 assists in 94 games for Dortmund, but has been in and out of the side this season.

United need quality and we have to question whether Malen can really make a major impact in the Premier League.
