Manchester United are reportedly close to securing signing number one for summer 2025.

Ineos have a massive job on their hands for the summer transfer window.

Ruben Amorim needs a lot of work done on his squad which is quite simply not fit for purpose and this has been made apparent throughout this season.

Sitting 14th in the Premier League, the summer could prove a point on which the club’s near future hinges. We know Manchester United have financial constraints this summer, but with sales big business can be done.

There are already six deals United seem increasingly likely to complete, with all being potentially incredible additions which are in line with the high potential, low-risk attitude Ineos have toward deals.

Now, ahead of the summer window, United are closing in on signing an Argentine wonderkid.

Manchester United closing in on Juan Gimenez

The South American market always has some absolute gems for European sides to look at bringing over. Already this year, United will welcome Diego Leon from Paraguay – with the deal set to be announced in June.

But United are also looking at further options in South America, with formal talks underway to sign Juan Gimenez from Rosario.

Now, Argentine journalist Dana Vital has shared the latest on Mundo Central, regarding the move for Gimenez.

He claims that the 18-year-old is now close to becoming a United player, however, the plan would be for Gimenez to remain with Rosario for the rest of the calendar year to aid his development.

Additionally, the defender is said to be keen to play in the First Division Rosario Classic, which means he will be happy to remain at his boyhood club to fulfil that dream before moving to England.

Gimenez would be an exciting addition for United, coming a year on from Ineos passing on the chance to sign Aaron Anselmino. The qualities possessed by the teenager also bode well for him to shine under Amorim.

Juan Gimenez plays just like Lisandro Martinez

Centre-back is arguably the strongest position Manchester United have right now, with Matthijs de Ligt and Leny Yoro looking like incredible purchases from last season.

Ayden Heaven has also shown encouraging signs in his debut cameo, but signing another option would be advisable considering options are set to be limited after this season.

Gimenez is an impressive young defender who shines on the ball with an impressive passing range which would be reminiscent of Lisandro Martinez, albeit a right-footed version.

He also has composure, like Martinez, which lends well to playing in a wide centre-back role, as he can carry the ball out through pressure.

Additionally, Gimenez boasts excellent physical qualities, proving strong for his age while having a good footballing IQ to make interceptions and tackles with ease as he reads the game so well.

He has all the raw qualities which are needed to be a top Premier League defender, and under Amorim, he could put it all together.
