Manchester United are set to complete the signing of Samuel Lusale from Crystal Palace, beating several elite clubs in the process.

The academy at Manchester United has long been special and often produced world-class talents. It’s such a huge part of the club and always has been, so now it’s encouraging to see Ineos investing in young players.

Last season, the U18s won the treble but Ineos have already strengthened in multiple areas and the arrival of Chido Obi-Martin is the biggest addition possible.

But he’s not the only one, with Crystal Palace winger Samuel Lusale also now on the cards. Here’s the latest regarding how United managed to sign the Slovakian U17 international.

Manchester United beat trio to signing of Samuel Lusale

The academy is receiving quite a level of attention this summer by Ineos with some serious additions made already and there is now another on his way into the club.

Samuel Lusale is the latest academy player said to be making the move to United, following hours after Chido Obi was reported to also be joining.

Two exceptional additions in as many days, but now it’s been revealed just how much of a coup Lusale was.

According to reliable academy account Academy Scoop on X, United beat competition from Borussia Dortmund along with Arsenal and Chelsea in order to sign the 16-year-old – with a host of ‘top clubs’ also being beaten.

This emphasises that Lusale is an incredible talent and shouldn’t be forgotten amid the arrival of Chido Obi. Both are top talents and while the Dane will be the headline, these are two excellent acquisitions by United.

What kind of a player is Samuel Lusale?

Within the United Academy right now, there are numerous talents across various positions, but Lusale joins in a position where there is a gap for him to shine.

Lusale is a dynamic left-winger who is extremely quick both in short and long distances and also at changing direction and running with the ball.

He has end product already in his game – although improvements are needed – and is seen as a very creative winger which is perfect for United.

Lusale came onto United’s radar thanks to his performances during Palace’s U15 Floodlit Cup triumph last year.
