Under Ineos, Manchester United have made a conscious effort to sign some wonderful young talents who arrive on the cusp of first team football.
Looking back on Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s comments on signing the ‘next Kylian Mbappe’, there is no denying that Manchester United have made a concerted effort to bring in talented 16-18 year-olds.
This summer, United have signed Diego Leon from Cerro Porteno for £3.2m initially, while he has already shown signs of his class. Leon is considered one of the best in his age group, and this epitomises the long term plan that Jason Wilcox and Christopher Vivell are looking to implement.
Ayden Heaven cost United just £1.5m in January, being a real testament to the scouting team, and another shining example of what Ineos want to do. Heaven has since became a star under Ruben Amorim and has barely put a foot wrong during his short career to date.
Sekou Kone is another example for United, spending £1m for the Malian who has shown signs he can become a top level midfielder.
Low cost, under valued wonderkids with sky high potential are quickly becoming a common theme within United’s transfer plans and now another signing of this ilk is being suggested.

Manchester United in race to sign Bright Ede
There is practically zero risk in signing massively talented teenagers for small fees, with the fee usually easy to recoup if they show signs of their potential.
However, surprisingly, since signing Leon and Enzo Kana-Biyik for free this summer, United haven’t made moves for youngsters, with focus being on giving Amorim a brand new first choice front three.
But now, according to Polish journalist, Sebastian Staszewski, United are now in the running to sign 18-year-old defender Bright Ede from Motor Lubin.
The reporter writes on X that Ede’s transfer has reached a standstill after leading clubs Chelsea and Benfica paused talks over the deal.
However, United remain in the race to sign the 6ft 3in centre-back alongside an unnamed Italian club who recently enquired.
Lubin are expected to receive £7.3m plus bonuses for Ede, wherever he ends up, and right now it looks like there is a strong chance the Red Devils could win that race.
Who is Manchester United target Bright Ede?
The Polish youth talent is exactly the kind of deal United fans get excited over, with the unknown making it enthralling to see what he brings.
Ede however isn’t an unknown in Poland, having joined Motor Lubin back in January 2025 for €100k (£86k).
However, since then his stock has sky rocketed to the point that he has made eight first team Ekstraklasa appearances, scoring once, over the past eight months.
Ede was born in Warsaw, and as a footballer has strong physical traits alongside excellent vision and a good left foot.
Chelsea were linked with Ede seriously earlier this summer with the idea being he would join their BlueCo plan and move to Strasbourg.
If United manage to sign him, there is a strong chance he is considered a candidate for a loan to Lausanne this summer, as he is still raw.
