Manchester United are setting sights big in the transfer window at this early stage.
There is always a stage in each transfer window where pragmatism may overtake optimism, sometimes for the better, sometimes not. One year where United did not get it right was in summer 2023, when the club abandoned the chase for Harry Kane early, to settle for Rasmus Hojlund instead.
Two years on Manchester United are searching for another striker, this itself evidence that the move to sign Hojlund has not been a successful one.
And in just early April, it is too soon for Manchester United to be walking away from dream targets, and one is firmly in the club’s sights for summer 2025.

Manchester United want Victor Osimhen
Over the past 24 hours various reports have come out claiming Liam Delap is a top target for Manchester United.
These include ESPN, The Mail and The Sun claiming Liam Delap is United’s number one target for the summer window.
And while United In Focus is not denying Manchester United’s interest in the Ipswich Town striker, we understand the club’s top target is still Victor Osimhen.
UIF understands via transfer inside Graeme Bailey that Manchester United still have Victor Osimhen at the top of the club’s list of targets for the summer.
Delap is one of the alternatives Manchester United are considering, as part of a six-man striker shortlist.
The four alternative names include Viktor Gyokeres, Jonathan Burkardt, Benjamin Sesko and Dusan Vlahovic.
However, with interest increasing from other clubs in Sporting striker Gyokeres, he is featured a little less prominently on the list of targets than previously considered.
Victor Osimhen open to Manchester United move
Manchester United are claimed to have told Victor Osimhen they plan to make a move for his services in the summer, according to an insider connected to the striker.
United do fear competition from Saudi clubs for Osimhen, who is on loan at Galatasaray this season from Serie A side Napoli.
Osimhen is yet to make a decision on his future, while Manchester United scouts have been watching him in Turkey.
The Nigeria international would be an outstanding acquisition and UIF understands he is open to signing for Manchester United despite an expected lack of Champions League football next season.
Liam Delap remains an alternative, but in early April, United remain committed to exploring all possibilities to solve the club’s striker crisis, and Osimhen is the top option.
