Man United keeping close tabs on Ajax midfielder, Erik ten Hag could reunite with another former player

Manchester United are one of several sides linked with Ajax midfielder Kenneth Taylor, according to reports.

Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United have been heavily linked with a move for a new midfielder in the summer with Casemiro’s future at Old Trafford coming under scrutiny as the Brazilian’s struggles continue.

Kobbie Mainoo has broken through into the United first team and has looked right at home in the middle of the park but his current partner Scott McTominay is failing to live up to the standard, at this moment in time.

As a result, a physical midfield presence is being sought after next summer and Kenneth Taylor has become the latest name to be linked with a move to Old Trafford.

Taylor linked to United

According to a report from TEAMtalk, United, alongside Man City, Tottenham Hotspur, Newcastle United and Aston Villa, are tracking the Dutch midfielder.

Ten Hag brought through Taylor during his time at Ajax and a move for the Dutch midfielder would be the latest move by the 53-year-old United boss to bring in a former player from the Eredivisie to the Premier League.

Taylor could follow Lisandro Martinez, Antony, and Andre Onana in moving to Old Trafford from the Dutch league. Ajax are said to be considering offloading one of their top talents in 2024 after a disastrous campaign so far.

The report goes on to say that the Dutch midfielder would be willing to leave the club in the summer but would be reluctant to depart in January with Ajax currently sitting 9th in their division.

Ten Hag needs to manage

One of the big criticisms of Ten Hag since he joined the club in the summer of 2022 has been his insistence on signing players that he either knows or trusts.

Signing Onana, who is a superb goalkeeper, was his decision but the mistakes that the Cameroon international continues to make, in the Champions League in particular, will only lead to more criticism of the Dutch manager.

Ten Hag has to focus on managing his side and must stop worrying about things off the field, like transfers and has to allow the Ineos team, whenever they complete their takeover, to have control over decisions.

Taylor is not good enough for the Red Devils, there are better options out there for United.
