Jurgen Klopp makes RB Leipzig transfer call over Man Utd star Marcus Rashford

The Marcus Rashford situation looks like it will have a resolution one way or another this January but Manchester United might not come away as victors.

Ruben Amorim has completely sidelined Rashford since dropping him from the matchday squad for the Manchester Derby even though his public words have contradicted that stand.

Marcus Rashford has been linked to countless clubs in just the first week of January but his wages make him difficult to shift.

United in Focus can exclusively reveal that they haven’t been helped by former Liverpool man Jurgen Klopp, who is now the Head of Global Soccer for Red Bulls’ empire of clubs.

Jurgen Klopp makes Marcus Rashford transfer call

Borussia Dortmund have been linked with Rashford and they have quite a long history with Klopp but that has probably ended now on a sour note.

Klopp’s association with the Red Bull empire, widely hated in Germany for going against the fan culture has made him a pariah for the rest of German football.

In his capacity as the head of global soccer at Red Bull, Klopp is tasked with overseeing their network of clubs by providing strategic vision and support for sporting directors in advancing the Red Bull philosophy.

Naturally, that includes getting his opinion on potential transfer targets which is the position he found himself in when Red Bull Leipzig assessed the possibility of bringing in Marcus Rashford.

United in Focus understands after speaking with transfer expert Graeme Bailey that Klopp and Red Bull Leipzig have rejected the chance to approach the player and throw their hat into a developing bidding war.

“West Ham have thrown their hat into the ring, but told that both Inter Milan and PSG have asked about him in the last week, during Rashford’s brother’s visit to Milan he spoke to AC and Inter,” Bailey said.

“Juventus in too – his brother is also due in Germany soon to speak to Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich.

“Jurgen Klopp and RB [Leipzig] have said no so far. It’s important to note this is ‘as it stands’ because obviously things can change,” he added.

Marcus Rashford bidding war is great news for Man Utd

Klopp and Red Bull might have said no as things stand but there’s one thing clear from the developing story and it’s that the potential of Rashford is interesting many clubs.

Of course, there is a long bridge to cross between interest and a completed deal but if there are multiple interested parties, United’s negotiating stance grows stronger.

That’s great news for the club because, in Rashford’s case, they started as a weak party due to his wages as well as his current standing at the club.

United can play interested parties off of each other and potentially get a better-than-expected deal for a player who looks like could flourish anywhere but at Old Trafford.

Cristiano Ronaldo might have helped United offload Casemiro, now they might need the help of a former Liverpool man to spice up the stakes for Rashford.

So far, it doesn’t look like happening but any club that enters the race makes it better for United.
