Jose Mourinho’s Roma want to sign Aaron Wan-Bissaka from Manchester United

Jose Mourinho is now interested in signing defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka for Roma from Manchester United in January.

Italian outlet Calcio Mercato report that Wan-Bissaka is on Mourinho’s radar ahead of the winter window opening next month.

Wan-Bissaka has not started a game for United this season, with Diogo Dalot usurping him as the Englishman has struggled with injury.

The £45 million man’s time at United looks to be over and the report says that a loan or a permanent transfer is a possibility next month.

Mourinho wants to sign Wan-Bissaka

A loan would get Wan-Bissaka off the wage bill for a few months and get him playing regular football, perhaps pushing up his asking price if United did eventually sell.

But United may prefer to just cut their losses now, selling the former Crystal Palace man and getting on with getting his permanent replacement in.

Mourinho tends to prefer his full-backs to defend first, and many of Wan-Bissaka’s problems at United have come with his attacking play.

So it could be a good fit, but it remains to be seen if Mourinho pushes ahead with his interest and how serious he is about signing the defender.

Wan-Bissaka made his first appearance under Erik ten Hag on Wednesday night in the friendly defeat against Cadiz in Spain.

His performance was among the most disappointing on show against the La Liga outfit and that will do nothing to save his United career.

In September, it was reported that John Murtough convinced Ten Hag to reconsider selling the defender during the summer.

But since then, he has not had a chance to really impress and at this stage, surely it makes sense for all parties if he moves on.
