Lewis Hall has looked like one of Manchester United’s priority transfer targets this summer, but now a new update suggests otherwise.
Despite the Manchester United fanbase being united behind the idea of signing Lewis Hall, it was always a bit of a pipe dream considering Newcastle’s attitude toward United.
Hall is commanding a price of £70m this summer, which is utterly ridiculous for a left-back, especially when considering his concerning injury record early in his career.
But with a left-back rumoured to be on the agenda, United are said to be impressed by Hall. But now the latest update has cast doubt over the transfer.
What is a fair price to pay to sign Lewis Hall?
Do you want Manchester United to pursue a deal?

Manchester United not currently pushing for Lewis Hall signing
There is no denying it would be a good move, and Hall is reportedly open to the move, but now a move seems unlikely.
This is according to Simon Stone of the BBC, talking to The United Stand on YouTube, as he claims that he’s now hearing Hall isn’t exactly a priority.
“I mentioned Lewis Hall’s name to someone at Manchester United, and they were thinking the interest in him may not be as forceful as we’ve been led to believe, but we’ll see if that happens.”
Stone then continued that while a back-up left-back isn’t on the agenda, a striker is.
“I was told they’d be looking at a striker – and having said already that Manchester United don’t want a backup for Luke Shaw, they want someone to compete and potentially take his place – I think they do want a backup for Benjamin Sesko.”
This makes sense because Newcastle would demand an absolute premium, just because it’s United calling.
One thing about Ineos is that they won’t be taken for a ride in negotiations, and Newcastle wouldn’t let Hall join United without doing that.
But attention should now be directed at who this striker could be.

Manchester United shouldn’t spend big on a striker
United don’t really need a left-back, and it is very possible that Harry Amass is viewed as a potential option to rotate and back up Luke Shaw next season.
But up front, it is really only Benjamin Sesko who represents a proper option.
But with the Slovenian likely to play the bulk of games, United only need a player to ease the burden on him, playing in the cups or from the bench.
Danny Welbeck might offer this for very cheap from Brighton. While Robert Lewandowski and Dusan Vlahovic are free options, albeit on big wages.
Another option worth considering is Ollie Watkins, if available for a reasonable fee this summer.
This feels like a pretty easy position to strengthen; United shouldn’t hesitate.
