Ineos have already struck an agreement to sell Manchester United’s most valuable player in 2026.
Since Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s minority takeover, there have been noticeable improvements in Manchester United’s transfer business.
However, United’s record of selling players is still incredibly poor, and to make matters more frustrating, players have often gone on to thrive after leaving Old Trafford.
WHAT would be your dream January transfer window for Manchester United?💰🔥
In the summer, Ruben Amorim created a bomb squad of players who ended up leaving on cut-price deals because United made it clear they had no future in Manchester.
Pocketing bigger fees for sold players is something United must improve upon, but it seems Ineos have made the same mistake when it comes to Rasmus Hojlund.

Man United only earning half of Rasmus Hojlund’s value
Hojlund was one of several players pushed to leave United in the summer, and he ended up completing a season-long loan move to Napoli.
Antonio Conte is a huge admirer of Hojlund, and there is a £38m obligatory buy clause attached to the deal if Napoli qualify for the Champions League.
Considering that Napoli are third in Serie A, there is a growing confidence that Hojlund will permanently sign for the Italian outfit in 2026.
Did Manchester United make a mistake sending Rasmus Hojlund on loan?
However, a fresh report from CIES Observatory ranks the top 100 most valuable football players, and Hojlund ranks above all current United players.
Hojlund has a value of 92.8 million Euros (£80m) according to the report – higher than the likes of Jamal Musiala and Vinicius Junior.
It means that United are about to sell the Dane for less than half of his actual value.
Man United’s most valuable current player
Hojlund had the highest value of any player on United’s books according to the CIES report, but Benjamin Sesko is not far behind.
Sesko was given a transfer value of 84.8 million Euros, which equates to £73 million.
It suggests that the £66m paid for Sesko by United was actually a smart investment by Ineos, despite the Slovenian striker’s slow start in the Premier League.

According to reports, United’s data team is confident that Sesko is an upgrade on Hojlund despite their contrasting form this season.
Interestingly, no other United player cracked the top 100 most valuable players.
