How much Man United will earn as Hannibal Mejbri set to complete move to Burnley

Manchester United have struggled to raise cash through sales in recent seasons but there has been a noticeable improvement under Ineos.

There was always going to be a summer clearout at Old Trafford under new ownership after a disappointing Premier League campaign last season.

Manchester United have completed six sales already this summer with the biggest so far being the £26million fee from Marseille for Mason Greenwood.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s move to West Ham also generated £15million for United while Willy Kambwala, Facundo Pellistri and Alvaro Carreras also raised funds with their moves away.

With Scott McTominay on his way to Napoli and Jadon Sancho also closing in on an exit, United could end the summer with close to £100million in sales.

Hannibal Mejbri completing move to Burnley

Hannibal Mejbri is set to be the next player sold by United after he completed his medical at Burnley ahead of a permanent move.

The 21-year-old joined United from Monaco back in 2019 in an £8.5million move. He has made 13 senior appearances for the Red Devils but failed to work his way into Erik ten Hag’s first-team plans.

With Manuel Ugarte on his way to Manchester United to strengthen the midfield, Hannibal Mejbri was deemed excess to requirements and he has now made a move to Championship outfit Burnley.

According to the Daily Mail, United could earn up to £9.5million from Hannibal’s move to Turf Moor.

Fabrizio Romano shared on X, formerly known as Twitter, that United will receive a package of £9million from Hannibal’s move – which also includes a sell-on clause for United.

It seems United could end up making a profit from Hannibal, although that could depend on him triggering add-ons in the deal.

Good business from Manchester United

United have been nowhere near good enough at selling players in recent years but there appears to have been a shift under new ownership.

The deals for Greenwood and McTominay both feature in United’s most expensive transfer sales of all time.

A £9.5million deal for Hannibal doesn’t exactly scream great value, but it was important that United thinned their squad this summer and it also recoups the money spent on him.
