Manchester United have finally agreed a deal to sign Manuel Ugarte from PSG.

After months of negotiation, finally Manchester United have agreed on a deal to sign Manuel Ugarte, costing the club an initial £42.2m from PSG.

The deal is around £9m less than the up-front figure that the Parisian side had been demanding over the past two months to sell Manuel Ugarte.

Now, the Uruguayan travels to Manchester where he will have his medical at Carrington today (Tuesday, August 27th), and we can now label this deal an absolute bargain for Manchester United.

Manuel Ugarte is an absolute steal for Ineos

After his move to PSG did not quite work out, many will not realise how good an addition Ugarte is for Erik ten Hag’s side.

The Uruguayan has been the only midfield target for Manchester United this summer to really get beyond speculation, and this makes the deal an absolute bargain for the Red Devils.

David Ornstein has reported via The Athletic that United view Ugarte as among the best young midfielders in football right now – so to keep patient and eventually grab a bargain proves this deal is excellent for Ineos.

A top target in a key position for a price which could end up as the bargain of the summer – truly magnificent work from Ineos.

The 23-year-old cost a similar amount to what Bayern Munich paid to sign Joao Palhinha from Fulham, with Ugarte being far his junior and also having a lot more potential.

How Manchester United should set up with new £42m man

For United, signing Ugarte completes the puzzle this summer and could be potentially the most important individual addition of the window considering the glaring weakness in the current team.

Casemiro despite some strong signs against a young Man City midfield and then Fulham, looked lost against Brighton at times and is clearly proving detrimental to the game of Kobbie Mainoo.

But with the far more mobile Ugarte, Mainoo could thrive without the burden of needing to cover for Casemiro.

Ugarte is an incredible ball-winner and he often does this high up the pitch which could be very useful for Ten Hag in his bid to make United the best transition team in world football.

Ugarte is a gem and if he can show his Copa America form or the form which prompted PSG to spend £51m on him last summer then this will be a pretty impressive addition.
