What Anthony Gordon deal means for Marcus Rashford

Rashford would be well within his rights to feel slighted over these developments, as Barcelona are spending almost thrice the money on a player who plays his position and is undeniably a worse player as well.

Moreover, Rashford has already proven himself at Barcelona, while Gordon is an unknown quantity Newcastle fans are happy to see the back of.

In many ways, Rashford has brought it upon himself by repeatedly declaring his desire to stay at the club, which Barcelona are taking advantage of now.

Barcelona expert Guillem Balague has thrown Rashford a bone by claiming that they want to keep the Man Utd loanee too.

He said: “Barcelona are about to make an offer for Anthony Gordon. That is not the end of Marcus Rashford at the club as right now the idea is to keep him too.

“According to club sources, Barcelona will return to 1v1 rules (anything that comes from sales can be invested back) and have money for a couple or three big transfers (a centre forward, a centre back, Gordon).”

Balague claim won’t help Rashford much

It’s been known from the beginning that Barcelona do want to keep Rashford, but it is always forgotten that they will have to deal with United for that to happen.

Barcelona have exploited Rashford’s desire to strong-arm United, and they are preparing to do so again by offering another loan for him.

United are well within their rights to tell them to cough up the money or take a hike, especially now that they’ve shown their financial situation by bidding for Gordon.

Both Barcelona and Rashford have taken United for granted in this whole situation and it is high time the club stands up for itself.

Barcelona want to keep him? Great, they agreed to a £25m option to buy last season. The deal is simple.
