Marcus Rashford has been basically begging Barcelona to sign him permanently, but he’s set for a brutal reality check.
Despite winning the league title with Barcelona and contributing double figures in both goals and assists, Marcus Rashford’s future is not secure.
Barcelona are pleading poverty when it comes to exercising their option to buy worth £25m, while Man Utd stand firm on it.
This stance would have been slightly understandable had Barcelona not been preparing their first move in the market.
Barcelona don’t want to buy Marcus Rashford for just £26m
How would you respond to a second loan offer from Barcelona?
Barcelona preparing Anthony Gordon move
With Robert Lewandowski moving on, Barcelona needed more attacking reinforcements, opening the door for Rashford to make his move permanent.
However, Barcelona have pivoted completely, seemingly wanting to buy Anthony Gordon from Newcastle.
After Newcastle missed out on European football this season, all is not well with the club, and Gordon is one of the players itching for an exit.
Bayern Munich have also been credited with an interest, but Newcastle are expected to demand a king’s ransom for his services.
If Barcelona are interested in signing him despite knowing that, then it serves as a brutal reality check for Rashford in a number of ways.
Barcelona’s Gordon interest is brutal for Marcus Rashford
Rashford plays in the same position as Gordon, and Newcastle won’t sell for less than £60m at the very least, so the optics are poor for the Man Utd loanee.
Marcus Rashford evidently does not want to return to Man Utd – There is no way back for him surely?!
🪄
If Barcelona are willing to spend more than twice Rashford’s fee on a player who plays the same position as him, it should tell him everything he needs to know about how Barcelona rate him.
This is after they’ve already tried and tested Rashford, and he delivered in terms of raw numbers as well.
Clearly, Barcelona are trying to take advantage of a player who has given up on all pretense in trying to convince Barcelona to sign him permanently.
At this rate, they probably think they can spend money on Gordon, and try to sneak another loan for Rashford, so desperate he has been.
If Man Utd now stand firm and call Barcelona on their bluff, he has no right to be angry at the club because in his mind, he has already sold himself to the Spanish club.
United have to look out for their best interests, because clearly nobody else will.
