Hansi Flick values Marcus Rashford at Barcelona, but the jury is still out on whether the Manchester United forward will complete a permanent transfer to the La Liga outfit.

Marcus Rashford has done everything he can to secure a permanent switch to Barcelona.

The 28-year-old, who was called up to the England squad for the 2026 World Cup, appeared in his final outing on loan in a deflating 3-1 loss to Valencia on Saturday.

Still, Rashford’s loan ended with a La Liga winners’ medal. The ball now rests in Barcelona’s court as to whether they’ll spend £26m – an option they agreed to last year – required to sign the England international permanently.

Hansi Flick values Marcus Rashford’s presence in the Barcelona dressing room

Rashford left the Barcelona dressing room with hope to return, similarly to Antony at Real Betis a year ago.

Antony got his permanent move to Real Betis in the end, but now all eyes are on Barcelona, as Rashford wants to continue playing his football at Camp Nou.

According to Marca, Flick held a private conversation with Rashford and assured him that he wants him in the Barcelona squad for the 2026/27 campaign.

The report claims Rashford’s objective is to remain at Barcelona and that he is not interested in returning to United, where he is under contract until 2028.

During his first – and possibly last – season at Barcelona, Rashford scored 14 goals and registered as many assists.

That form wasn’t enough to make Rashford a regular starter until Flick, especially in the second half of the season, unless Raphinha was injured.

Separately, a report from SPORT claims one of the biggest reasons why Flick is pushing for Rashford to stay is not because of his performances, but because of how he’s adapted within the Barcelona dressing room.

The language barrier wasn’t a problem as Rashford became close friends with Roony Bardghji, Ronald Araujo and Lamine Yamal.

Even though Flick wants Rashford at Barcelona next season, the club are trying to work on a way to make the deal happen without paying the £26m fee.

Barcelona set for Marcus Rashford talks this week

The Rashford deadline is edging closer.

Barcelona have until 15 June to decide on whether they want to sign Rashford on a permanent deal.

According to talkSPORT, Barcelona will hold fresh talks with United this week in an attempt to sign Rashford before the World Cup.

It is noted that Barcelona sporting director Deco has tried to restructure the proposed deal, with the club’s preferred option being a second season-long loan.

The report also claims Barcelona have not completely ruled out activating the £26m option to sign Rashford.
