Graham Potter must make decision on £31m Man United star amid West Ham links

Graham Potter has been linked with the Manchester United job plenty of times but he has now been confirmed as the new West Ham manager.

The Hammers decided to sack Julen Loptegui this week after a poor start to the season, and Graham Potter has been hired as his successor.

Dan Ashworth wanted Potter at United as part of his five-man shortlist after Erik ten Hag was sacked, but Omar Berrada and other club chiefs preferred Ruben Amorim.

Reports as far back as January suggested that Ineos had ‘sounded out’ Graham Potter, but ultimately United decided to look elsewhere.

Potter has now made a return to the Premier League, and he will face United in May when the Hammers travel to Old Trafford in one of the final league games of the calendar.

Graham Potter must make Victor Lindelof decision

Victor Lindelof has fallen down the pecking order at Old Trafford, especially after the summer arrivals of Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui.

While Lindelof is keen to impress Amorim, United’s £31m signing faces an uncertain future at Old Trafford. Especially as the Red Devils need to raise cash this month.

United must sell Lindelof this month and CaughtOffside report that West Ham are one of the teams showing interest in the Swedish international.

The report suggests United have set an asking price of less than £7m for Lindelof in hopes of getting a deal over the line for him this month.

However, with Potter now in charge at the London Stadium, making a move for Lindelof will require his input.

Victor Lindelof injury update at Man United

While United want to sell Lindelof this month, his latest injury threatens to ruin any transfer plans.

Lindelof started in the Carabao Cup quarter-final clash against Tottenham last month but was visibly upset after being forced off prematurely with an injury.

After the full-time whistle, Amorim sympathised with Lindelof following his setback. It is not yet clear when Lindelof is set to return after he was absent from the 2-2 draw with Liverpool last week.

If he can return to fitness soon, there is still a good chance United could offload him this month. It is yet to be seen whether Potter will want to bring him to London.
