Manchester United’s interest in Manuel Ugarte could be coming to a head with an agreement close.

After a successful summer and four arrivals to date, now Manchester United are looking to wrap up their summer business with Manuel Ugarte.

Ineos‘ pursuit of a midfielder has long been fixated on the Uruguayan international, and PSG and United have been trying to find an agreement.

All potential avenues are being explored with a loan swoop for Ugarte also possibly on the cards.

Now, it has been reported that the Red Devils and PSG have had a breakthrough and an agreement is close to being reached.

Manchester United near agreement for Manuel Ugarte

The deal for Ugarte seems like it will only be a matter of time, as surely it will go through with all parties wanting a resolution.

Well according to a report from Le Parisien, it could be nearer than we anticipated as they claim that an agreement is now expected in the coming days by both PSG and United.

The agreement would reportedly see Ugarte arrive at Old Trafford on a permanent transfer for a fee of around £51m – although the final details are yet to be worked through.

That being said, all parties are confident the deal will now materialise – an addition which will be a welcome addition to United’s squad.

Florian Plettenberg has also added to the story, reporting that there are now advanced negotiations taking place over Ugarte’s possible move to United.

He reports that both clubs are getting closer to an agreement yet there are plenty of details to be clarified.

All signs seem to now be pointing to the deal being done long before the deadline in nine days.

Ugarte will benefit several Manchester United players

The arrival of Ugarte could absolutely transform Erik ten Hag’s team, despite the fact he is not a perfect fit.

The main reason for the positivity behind this deal is that Ugarte possesses qualities that nobody else in this United squad has right now.

Ugarte could have a real benefit for players like Kobbie Mainoo and Casemiro in midfield with both wanting to play slightly further up the pitch.

Having a player who loves the defensive side of the game will allow the more creative players to shine, while the Uruguayan will be the ball-winner that this team has been crying out for.

We cannot wait to see how the midfield shapes up if United manage to get this move over the line.
