Manchester United snapped up a new midfielder on transfer deadline day but continue to be linked with another addition.
Erik ten Hag picked up a great win on Saturday afternoon as Manchester United beat Southampton 3-0 away from home.
Matthijs de Ligt, Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho were all on the scoresheet as United coasted to victory.
We also saw Manuel Ugarte make his debut after joining United from Paris Saint-Germain on transfer deadline day.
Ugarte impressed on his United debut and fans are hoping to see him solve the issues in the engine room.
The transfer window is now closed but United continue to be linked with potential signings in midfield – and one name won’t go away.

Adrien Rabiot transfer latest
You would be hard-pressed to remember the last transfer window in which Adrien Rabiot wasn’t linked with Manchester United.
The Frenchman has joined the likes of Wesley Sneijder and Nicolas Gaitan in terms of being constantly linked with United but never actually signing.
A deal seemed close in 2022 as United agreed to sign Rabiot but no move materialised in the end.
Rabiot is now a free agent having left Juventus over the summer and it’s no surprise that United continue to be linked.
United were allegedly offered the chance to sign Rabiot over the summer but turned him down – on multiple occasions.
A move to Old Trafford just doesn’t seem to be in the plans and Rabiot is now closing in on a surprise switch back to France.
Fabrizio Romano claims that Marseille are now in ‘advanced talks’ to sign Rabiot.
Negotiations over a contract are ongoing with Marseille now ‘optimistic’ of signing Rabiot this week.
Rabiot has hit 16 goals from midfield in the last two seasons and now looks set to finally find himself a new club.
Rabiot to United finally put to bed
This would be Rabiot’s first stint back in French football since leaving Paris Saint-Germain for Juventus back in 2019.
The 29-year-old has rejected moves to Saudi Arabia and Turkiye in an attempt to find a club in a top European league.
Marseille are now ready to hand him a return to Ligue 1 and surely – finally – rule out a move to United once and for all.
If United aren’t going to land Rabiot as a free agent, even with lingering issues in midfield, then they are simply unlikely to ever sign him.
Now approaching his 30’s, Rabiot is heading to France rather than the Premier League and the lack of English interest speaks volumes.
This ship seems to have sailed and Rabiot surely won’t be linked with United again if he does finalise this move to France, bringing an end to a rather long-running rumour.
