Former Man United star can be re-signed for £43m this summer, Ruben Amorim has already commented on deal

Manchester United players who struggle at Old Trafford often improve as soon as they head for the exit.

It has been a frustrating trend for the Red Devils over the last few years, and it has continued throughout this season.

Antony has been thriving at Real Betis despite struggling in Manchester and dropping out of the starting lineup before heading on loan to Spain. Marcus Rashford is back playing with a smile at Aston Villa after he was frozen out of Ruben Amorim’s squad at Old Trafford.

Rewind to 2023, and United sold Anthony Elanga for £15m as staff weren’t confident he was good enough for the Red Devils.

However, the 22-year-old has been incredible for Nottingham Forest this season. Elanga scored a wonder goal against United to haunt his former side in a 1-0 win at the start of the month.

Man United could re-sign Anthony Elanga in summer

United will regret selling Elanga after seeing the progress he has made at Forest. He has six goals and nine assists to his name this season, which trumps the four goals and four assists he recorded during his entire time in Manchester.

Ineos are planning to raise £100m in sales this summer with Rashford, Antony and Jadon Sancho potentially all headed for the exit. That means Amorim will need reinforcements up front, and Anthony Elanga has emerged as a potential option.

That is because CaughtOffside are reporting that United could re-sign Elanga for £43m (50m Euros) this summer.

Forest are exploring the possibility of extending Elanga’s contract, but if a suitable bid arrives in the summer they will consider his departure.

Elanga looks a perfect fit for Amorim’s style of play, with the United head coach wanting more physical and athletic players in his lineup to cope with the demands of the Premier League.

To sum up just how athletic the Sweden international is, Elanga believes he is the fastest player in the Premier League.

Ruben Amorim comments rule out Anthony Elanga deal

United will be in the market for a new No.10 this summer and Elanga might even be open to an Old Trafford return, but Amorim’s comments on Elanga suggest a deal is not on the cards.

After United’s defeat to Forest at the start of April, Amorim suggested that Elanga has already had his chance at the club and failed to make it count.

“They have to perform in Manchester United, we cannot look at all the players that go away. They had their chance in Manchester United,” Amorim said.

Instead, United could look elsewhere in the Premier League with Amorim a big fan of Antoine Semenyo.

Amorim raved about Matheus Cunha’s quality this week, also, with United linked with the Wolves star.

Even if Elanga is available this summer, expect United and Amorim to look elsewhere.
