One of Erik ten Hag’s former Manchester United signings is believed to be on the verge of completing a sensational transfer to Dutch side Ajax, according to reports.
Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag made a real name for himself during his stunning spell with Ajax ahead of his arrival at Old Trafford in 2022.
Following his arrival at the Johan Cruyff Arena in 2017, the 54-year-old Dutchman led Ajax to three Eredivisie titles and two Dutch Cups during his time at the club.
Ten Hag also engineered Ajax’s sensational run to the semi-finals of the 2018-19 Champions League season, only for Tottenham to thwart them a place in the final.
He has been reunited with several former Ajax players at United, including Lisandro Martinez, Andre Onana, Antony, Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui.

Former Ten Hag signing to move to Ajax
According to Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf, Netherlands striker Wout Weghorst is set to leave Burnley and sign for Ajax this summer.
Wout Weghorst signed for Manchester United in 2023 as part of a six-month loan spell after his time with Besiktas was cut short ahead of his move to Old Trafford.
De Telegraaf reports that Ajax have been heavily linked with Weghorst and the Dutch side have booked their medical with the Dutch forward.
It is believed that the 32-year-old former United striker will sign for Eredivisie outfit Ajax for a fee of around £4.2m.
Weghorst hinted at Ajax transfer
Wout Weghorst made 17 Premier League appearances during his spell under United boss Erik ten Hag and failed to score once in the league for the Red Devils.
The Netherlands international netted once in the Europa League for United and found the back of the net in the League Cup in the 2022-23 campaign.
Weghorst, who lifted the League Cup with United, went on to have a loan spell with German side Hoffenheim after his time at Old Trafford came to an end.
The former United player had teased that Ten Hag’s former club Ajax could be his next career destination after opening up about his admiration for the Dutch side.
“For me, the total package has to be right, we are having our fourth child and we have travelled a lot as a family in recent years,” he told German magazine Kicker, as per The Daily Mail.
“Ajax is the biggest club in the Netherlands, I don’t need to say more.”
