Ruben Amorim is running it back at AC Milan, and after Mason Mount links, another player is firmly on his radar.
A reunion between Man Utd and Ruben Amorim will happen much earlier than anyone expected, as AC Milan face United on August 15.
Amorim’s spell at Old Trafford was a disaster, but he clearly liked some players, as evidenced by Mason Mount’s transfer links.
Those links have now been followed by another player in the Man Utd squad, giving Ineos a decision to make.

Ruben Amorim is ‘crazy’ for Lisandro Martinez
Amorim is not somebody who regrets anything. If anything, he is far too confident in his ideas, regardless of whether they work or not.
However, if he were to name one regret of his at Old Trafford, it would be that he couldn’t utilise Lisandro Martinez as he would have liked.
The centre-back was largely injured during Amorim’s spell at the club, but he showed genuine promise and exciting performances every time he played.
Those performances have seemingly convinced Amorim that he wants a reunion, especially now that Martinez is finding form and consistency for Argentina at the World Cup.
Reliable AC Milan reporter Antonio Vitiello claims that Ruben Amorim is driving the chase of two of his former players – Goncalo Inacio and Lisandro Martinez.
He writes, “Amorim is crazy about two defenders: Sporting Lisbon’s Gonçalo Inácio and Manchester United’s Lisandro Martínez. He hopes one of the two can land at AC Milan. Contacts underway.”
Martinez inquiry should prompt Ineos decision
On paper, United would be fools to sell Martinez, just as he’s regaining form and fitness, but the big picture isn’t as clear.

His contract expires next summer, and although United hold an option to extend it to 2028, they need to take a decision on him.
His game hasn’t ever been reliant on athleticism or pace, but if he can’t stay fit, and Milan come in with a lucrative offer as they did for Goncalo Ramos, they will have to consider it.
Amorim didn’t do much good for Man Utd on the pitch when he was here, but if he can get Milan to fork out millions on players at Man Utd, then it could be well worth a think.
