Manchester United transfer rumours are heating up as Ruben Amorim bids to re-shape his squad.
Ruben Amorim has already declared his side on course to be the ‘worst Manchester United team ever‘, a warning across the bows to everybody at the club.
United are weighing up decisions in the transfer market, and one of those is selling Alejandro Garnacho amid strong interest from Napoli.
Conversely, United are looking to sign Lecce star Patrick Dorgu, and considering United’s ongoing battle to comply with PSR, the two situations could be linked.

Napoli boss Antonio Conte is interested in a big move for Alejandro Garnacho, to replace Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, who has joined PSG.
Alejandro Garnacho is just one option they could spend their money on. Another possibility is Manchester United target, Patrick Dorgu.
Amid speculation over Napoli’s plans, FIFA registered agent Beppe Accardi spoke to Tutto Napoli and was asked which player he would spend the money on.
Accardi admitted it was not a simple choice – yet he believes Patrick Dorgu to be a better long-term option.
He said: “Garnacho already has some international experience, but from an economic and future growth point of view, Dorgu would be a more far-sighted investment.”
Then he added, in a dream scenario: “Let’s say Garnacho in January, but Dorgu in July!”
He did point to one reason Garnacho would be popular at Napoli, pointing to their history with Diego Maradona, adding: “Garnacho is a naturalized Argentine, and we know how special the bond between Argentina and Napoli is.”
Manchester United choice may depend on fit
Manchester United’s choice to keep Alejandro Garnacho or buy Patrick Dorgu may not be guided by talent alone, it will be influenced by fit for Ruben Amorim’s system.
And we have seen already that winger Garnacho is not a natural fit for Ruben Amorim’s formation, with the boss explaining that he must learn to play the inside attacker position behind the striker.
Garnacho is not trusted with defensive duties to play at wing-back.
Dorgu is ready-made to play at wing-back, on the left too, where Manchester United just don’t have a player who fits the role.
This would make him a tempting option at the expense of Garnacho, even if the Argentine had more potential long-term.
But then if you bake-in Accardi’s assessment that Dorgu is the better investment, United’s needs to sign him suddenly make Garnacho look even more expendable, to make a deal happen.
