Manchester United are stuck in a never-ending left-back crisis, and both senior options are missing the USA tour.
Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia are both absent from Manchester United’s USA tour squad. It poses a familiar dilemma for Erik ten Hag, and he does not have Diogo Dalot on hand to solve it either.
Youngsters Sam Murray and Harry Amass have a chance to prove themselves, but in the meantime, United are assessing left-back options.
One name who has been thrown back into the mix is former Manchester United loanee Sergio Reguilon.

Sergio Reguilon keen on Manchester United return
Sergio Reguilon answered an SOS call to sign on loan for Manchester United on transfer deadline day.
He lasted until January, with United reluctant to extend his loan agreement. This was partly because United had hoped Tyrell Malacia would return, and did not foresee Luke Shaw suffering another injury.
This misjudgment saw Reguilon sign on loan for Brentford on loan, but he has now returned to Tottenham, and is looking for a new club.
Speaking via YouTube, Fabrizio Romano says there is ‘nothing advanced’ between United and Reguilon at this point – but he is aware the Spaniard would jump at the chance to return to Old Trafford.
He said: “Sergio Reguilon was very happy in Manchester. if Man United decided to return for Sergio Reguilon, he would be keen on a move.
“He loved his time at Man United, it was a short-time, [but] he was very happy, with the club, with the tactical idea.”
United need more than a stop-gap
Sergio Reguilon will just be a mere back-up plan at this stage. If United want him, he’s there. But his output at the club was limited last time.
The 27-year-old only ended up making four Premier League starts for United. He did make 14 for Brentford, where he made four assists and gave a much better account of himself.
Reguilon has consistently shown his support for his ex-United teammates on social media since leaving, and he would have no trouble fitting into the group.
Erik ten Hag has shown a tendency to re-sign players he has previously worked with, and there is still speculation about bringing back Sofyan Amrabat, another deadline day signing, who did last the season.
Don’t rule out Reguilon if United get desperate again, but we suspect he is quite far down the list at this point.
