Sir Jim Ratcliffe has ‘excruciating’ Manchester United fear to drive him to be successful

Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s quotes on potentially buying Manchester United should excite the fanbase as his takeover nears completion.

The Glazer family, after 18 years in charge at Old Trafford, are finally ready to cede control of Manchester United with Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s Ineos set to acquire a stake in the club.

This move, which is still yet to be ratified, would be the biggest change in the ownership structure at Old Trafford since the American family completed their controversial takeover of the club in 2005.

However, there has been some scepticism from certain sections of the United fanbase with the belief being that OGC Nice’s struggles in Ligue 1, prior to their superb start to this season, suggested they were not right for United.

Ratcliffe drops a hint of what to expect at United

There have been some reservations about Ratcliffe, who was born in Oldham. The 71-year-old attempted to buy Chelsea when Roman Abramovich was forced to sell the club following the war in Ukraine.

However, the holy grail for Ratcliffe always looked to be United and he declared back in the summer of 2022 that he would be interested in the Red Devils if they were available, according to The Telegraph.

After nearly a year of bids from Ineos and Sheikh Jassim’s Qatari consortium, it now looks to be Ratcliffe’s bid to lose, with a resolution on the deal expected sometime this week according to The Telegraph.

Back in September of this year, Ratcliffe sat down alongside Andy Currie and John Reece, co-owners of Ineos, and gave a rather stark quote about United that should get the fans excited.

In a rather open statement on Ineos’ YouTube channel, he said: “I would never contemplate buying a brand like United and failing because the public criticism would be excruciating.”

This statement should excite the fanbase hugely. Finally, after years of silence with the American family proving they don’t care, with Ratcliffe, and the team around him, the fanbase will be assured they have a leader who cares about the club’s success on the pitch.

Ratcliffe’s plan

As of yet, the fans are still in the dark about the Englishman’s plan for the club. There are many questions that need answering but so far, all of the signs are pointing in a positive direction.

A director of football, a new CEO and a decision on the manager will be crucial. Following years of reactive planning from the Glazer family, the fans and the club itself needs proactive planning to succeed.

Either way, these quotes from Ratcliffe should get fans excited for the future, and after years of walking in the abyss under the Glazer family, the club may, for the first time in two decades, be about to fulfil its potential.
