Manchester United’s squad is taking shape ahead of an all-important USA tour in the pre-season, and another exciting player is set to miss out.
A trend that started with Harry Amass, who is set to be loaned and miss the USA tour, continued with the same call made for Ethan Williams.
The next in line to find a loan move to continue his development has just been given very strong words of encouragement by his new club.
They already believe that he has got a ‘huge future’ ahead of him after signing him despite a lot of interest in his services.
Elyh Harrison joins Shrewsbury on loan
United’s goalkeeping situation is in a state of flux right now, but it was clear from the beginning that Elyh Harrison would not be in the picture.
Harrison shone at Chester on loan in the first half of last season, before staying at the club for the latter half.
Now, he’s earned himself a jump up the divisions, following Dean Henderson’s steps in joining Shrewsbury Town on loan.
Henderson, clearly a fan of the club to this day, sent Harrison words of encouragement, saying, “Let’s go brother!! Great club!! They will look after you. Smash it.”
Confirming the move on Shrewsbury’s website, their director of football, Micky Moore, praised Harrison’s potential and said it was a coup.
Moore said: “I’m really excited that we’ve signed Elyh. He’s someone we’ve targeted since last season ended, and I think he’s got a bright future.
“We watched him play at Chester last year and continued to watch him when he went back to play for United’s under-21s. We think he’s got all the right characteristics and that this could be a very good loan for him.
“Michael wanted to get him in the building as soon as possible, so I’m really happy to get it over the line because it was a tough process due to the amount of interest in the player. But I want to thank Elyh and Man United for their help throughout.
“I’m excited to see how he develops throughout the season.”

Harrison can jump multiple divisions in 2025/26
It’s not yet clear how long this loan move is for, but if Harrison’s Chester loan is any indication, United would probably want him to jump multiple divisions this season.
That can happen if he impresses on a six-month loan at Shrewsbury and joins a different team for the latter half of the season in League One or the Championship.
Dean Henderson did the same, joining Sheffield United after leaving Shrewsbury, the team with which he eventually earned promotion to the Premier League.
The first agenda on Harrison’s list will be to impress at Shrewsbury, who will be playing their first season in League Two in nearly ten years.
Logic dictates that, as the relegated team, they should be favourites in the fourth division, but it’s extremely competitive.
That level of expectation with competitiveness makes it the perfect loan for Harrison, his first in the English football league.
