After a busy summer, Manchester United are still far from being done with this summer’s transfer window.
Erik ten Hag has seen his squad bolstered significantly this summer, with the arrivals of four first-team quality players who are significant improvements on who they have replaced.
Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui joined from Bayern Munich earlier this week, while Leny Yoro and Joshua Zirkzee both arrived last month.
Ineos has not only been active on incomings but with outgoings also being prioritised this summer to clear out some of the deadwood which had been sitting in the squad and not quite suiting Ten Hag – with Aaron Wan-Bissaka signing for West Ham.
But there are still players in the squad who Manchester United would surely be keen to move on this summer, and now Chelsea could reportedly solve this problem.

Chelsea now join race to sign Jadon Sancho
Before this summer’s transfer window kicked off, one player who looked destined for departure was Jadon Sancho with the forward seemingly having no way back at the club after he and Ten Hag’s falling out.
But since then, the pair have put their issue to bed and Sancho has been back in training and the first-team, playing a prominent role in pre-season and been used in the Community Shield.
However, despite this rumours of his exit continue and now it seems Chelsea has joined the race.
According to journalist Christopher Michel, writing for Fussball News, the 24-year-old is moving into focus at Stamford Bridge.
It is claimed Chelsea would offer United cash plus two ‘academy players’ in an offer to permanently sign Sancho – however the names of these players are not disclosed.
Alternatively, Chelsea could look into loaning the Sancho with an obligation to buy in a year, while also taking over his entire £250k-a-week salary – which would be a delight for Ineos.
This interest from Chelsea does come alongside Sancho’s possible move to PSG no longer being considered.
Sancho is still ‘absolutely quality’ and there is a real chance that if he heads elsewhere he will end up being a success.
Who United should ask Chelsea to include in the Sancho deal
So if Chelsea are really about to make a move for Sancho, there are realistically plenty of academy talents that the Red Devils would be more than willing to accept in a deal.
Given how terrible Chelsea are at buying, United could also take advantage with a deal favourable to bolstering the ranks at Old Trafford.
We are not sure what the claim academy players are referring to, or whether this effectively just means young players in their squad.
If it is youngsters two 18-year-old talents United should be looking to receive are Tyrique George and Josh Acheampong.
Both are viewed as Chelsea’s most promising homegrown talents, but in the current Chelsea team, there is no way any academy player will get a chance – and even if they do chances are they’ll be sold anyway to make way for the endless stream of players.
George is a winger who will see his chance of a breakthrough stunted by Pedro Neto, meanwhile, Acheampong is a right-back and centre-back – two positions United could use another option in.
United could offer both a realistic pathway to first-team football and really they’d be silly not to take it if this is how the deal panned out.
