Casemiro was just knocked out of the World Cup and dominated by a Manchester United target in the process.
A 2-1 defeat to Norway means Brazil are out of the World Cup and that Matheus Cunha will return early ready for Manchester United’s pre-season.
Casemiro also played in the defeat, and in midfield, he came up against United target Sander Berge, who played the full match for Norway.
Berge is not United’s first option, but the Red Devils are considering him as a potential midfield target this summer. Based on his latest Norway performance, there could be good value in a deal.

Sander Berge dominates Casemiro and Bruno Guimaraes
Berge started for Norway in a three-man midfield up against departing United star Casemiro and United-linked Bruno Guimaraes.
Casemiro did win a penalty for Brazil late on, but overall he was outperformed by Berge in midfield.
As per SofaScore, Berge completed a match-high 117 passes, boasting a remarkable 98% completion rate with only two passes going astray.
A glance at his match stats shows just how dominant the 28-year-old was in midfield.
Sander Berge match stats:
- 90 Minutes played
- 130 Touches
- 98% Passes completed (117/119)
- 100% Dribbles completed (2/2)
- 3 Defensive contributions
- 100% Ground duels won (3/3)
Berge lost possession just three times all match, an incredible feat given he had 130 touches of the ball. Defensively, he was also flawless with a 100% success rate in duels.

Let's turn the transfer question on it's head, and give Jason Wilcox some advice…
Sander Berge to Man United latest updates
Interest in Berge is not new, in fact United came close to signing Berge in 2024 before ultimately choosing to sign Manuel Ugarte.
Ugarte is out of favour at United and was expected to be sold before suffering a long-term injury at the World Cup.

That injury could throw a spanner into the works when it comes to signing Berge, as United view the Norwegian as a fitting replacement for Ugarte.
But there is no denying that Berge has shone at the World Cup this summer, and with United missing out on several midfield targets already, he could yet be an option for Ineos to explore.
