Manchester United are closing in on signing Benjamin Sesko this summer to complete the frontline overhaul.
It is unimaginable that last season’s underwhelming attacking trio could be completely overhauled in the space of a few months.
But after managing to score just 44 goals in 38 Premier League games during the 2024/25 season, Manchester United needed change and Ineos have given Ruben Amorim exactly that.
Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha bring creativity and goals to the number 10 role where Alejandro Garnacho faltered last season, with the combined £127.5m seeing United sign two of the best attackers in the Premier League.
However, despite these grand upgrades, United wanted a new star striker and Benjamin Sesko could be just that, as the Slovenian striker has the physical qualities that could make him an elite striker in the future.
Now, United have been chosen by Sesko, with talks ongoing over the final fee with RB Leipzig which looks likely to be around the £70m mark.
So with the transfer drawing close, now it is worth considering why Sesko is more likely to succeed than his predecessor strikers at the club.

Benjamin Sesko has luxury which Rasmus Hojlund never had at Manchester United
While Sesko is a huge talent, not everyone is completely sold on him as the big money striker he is set to become this summer.
United fans have compared Sesko to Rasmus Hojlund, with the Slovenian arriving relatively unproven at the highest level, but with potential to be top tier for Amorim.
Hojlund failed over the course of two seasons, but Sesko arrives under very different circumstances to his predecessor.
When Hojlund joined the club in 2023, there was an immediate demand for goals due to his teammates not contributing much themselves and he was the sole striker considering Anthony Martial barely played due to injury.
However, Sesko has the Premier League proven pair of Cunha and Mbeumo supporting him in the two number 10 positions.
These two players are in their prime and should take a share of the goals which reduces the pressure and demands on Sesko while he learns his craft in a new country.
This should make a world of difference for Sesko as Hojlund’s confidence being crushed is arguably the biggest factor in his failures at Old Trafford.
Sesko will have countless opportunities to score for Manchester United
Sesko has all the abilities a striker needs in order to be elite and at just 22, he seems destined to reach world class status in his career.
At Leipzig, he was the spearhead of a poor team at times, making the most of limited chances as he overperformed his expected goals.
But at United, with the amount of chances Bruno Fernandes, Amad, Patrick Dorgu, Cunha and Mbeumo all create for the striker, he should have a field day.
The main thing will be his teammates need to give him the chances, because when he gets an opportunity he is often deadly with his finishing.
It will be a team effort and he needs help to score the goals, with his aerial ability also set to help his teammates who have been crossing to nobody for the past few years.
