Barcelona have given their verdict on Manchester United’s reported swap deal proposal with Jadon Sancho moving to Camp Nou and Raphinha moving to Old Trafford, according to reports.

Jadon Sancho’s future at Manchester United looks up in the air following his fallout with boss Erik ten Hag and the Englishman has been linked with multiple clubs since that fallout in September.

Saudi Pro League sides, Juventus and now Barcelona have been linked with the former Borussia Dortmund winger and Sancho will surely be moving on from Old Trafford in the January transfer window.

A rumour emerged yesterday about Barcelona being keen on Sancho and United being interested in striking a deal with Raphinha moving the other way.

Barcelona’s verdict

According to a report from Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo, that reported swap deal, which would seem to get United interested in the mooted proposal, would be rejected by the Spanish side.

Barcelona believe the former Leeds United winger is currently ‘untouchable’ in their squad and the Spanish side don’t see a place for Sancho, 23, in their plans and are not interested in the Englishman at all.

As for Raphinha, the Blaugrana would only be open to the Brazilian’s sale next summer, in the case of a massive offer arriving for his services.

The 26-year-old would be a welcomed addition at Old Trafford as he shone for Leeds in the Premier League but that deal looks to be dead in the water now.

United’s other options

The other option for the Red Devils is to try and ship Sancho, either to the Saudi Pro League, where they would be almost guaranteed to recoup most of the £73 million they spent to bring the 23-year-old to the club in the first place, or the Serie A.

Juventus have also been credited with an interest in the English forward but that deal only looks possible if United are willing to countenance a loan for Sancho, which seems unlikely.

Of course, the final option might be for the Englishman to be brought back into the United fold but that certainly looks unlikely. A move to Juventus seems the only option for the 23-year-old.
