Andy Mitten shares Manchester United’s stance on Mateus Fernandes
Fernandes would be a brilliant signing for Manchester United this summer, bolstering the midfield with his quality, potential, and versatility.
Now, speaking on the Talk of the Devils podcast, Andy Mitten has revealed how United feel about Fernandes.
“United like Mateus Fernandes a lot”, Mitten explained. “That’s a fact.”
Mitten isn’t the type to throw names out there for nothing, and the fact that he has revealed this about the West Ham midfielder suggests that a move is very possible and moving in the direction of United signing the 21-year-old.
Speaking on the same podcast, Laurie Whitwell also explained what is currently happening with the transfer.
He says that United are currently exploring a deal for Fernandes and how much this would cost both in fee and salary, before concluding that he is one to keep an eye on.
Reports elsewhere indicate that Fernandes will cost £50-60m, which is a more than acceptable price for a player of his quality.

He won’t cost a marquee fee, but in terms of quality, Mateus Fernandes might be the best player United can sign this summer.
At just 21, Fernandes is already incredible at so many aspects of football and will only continue to improve under the tutelage of Michael Carrick.
Fernandes has a higher ceiling than Elliot Anderson, based on his qualities and profile, fitting the mould of other Portuguese midfielders, Joao Neves and Vitinha.
This is a signing that might not feel marquee, but Fernandes could quite easily be better than any £100m midfielder signing.
Anderson is two years his senior, and by the time Fernandes turns 23, it will be safe to assume he’s a much better player.
