Andreas Pereira shares message Scott McTominay should listen to amid Fulham links

As the weeks of the transfer window tick by, Scott McTominay looks more and more likely to exit Manchester United.

This summer has already seen Ineos clear out a number of players who had been doing too little at the club for far too long, but now it looks like Scott McTominay could be next.

The Scottish midfielder is an academy graduate and played a starring role last season for Manchester United, with his goals winning the Red Devils quite a lot of points which makes it less certain he will actually want to move.

Fulham are the club looking interested in signing McTominay with a £20m bid already rejected, a figure which stands just £5m above United’s asking price.

However, it would fund moves elsewhere such as for Manuel Ugarte from PSG. Now, a former United player’s comments could be exactly what McTominay needs to hear.

Scott McTominay should take Andreas Pereira’s advice

Amid the possible move to Fulham, Andreas Pereira has made some comments which we imagine could be quite impactful for McTominay as he may have a decision to make.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with the Standard, Pereira explained that departing United was the best decision he’s made.

“I think it was the best decision I made in my life,” he admitted about leaving United.

“To come to live and play here, to enjoy my football, to get back into the national team with great players, to enjoy my football in the Premier League, leaving is the best decision I made.

“The time I was there, I really enjoyed being at a fantastic club. But I don’t regret leaving. We [the players in my situation] have this desire to show it was wrong that we didn’t play.”

These comments are words McTominay should be listening to as he is in a similar situation to Pereira.

What should McTominay do?

Pereira was in a similar position to McTominay at one point, being a squad player for United but with little chance of being anything more than that.

McTominay is a very talented midfielder, but he could be so much more at Fulham if he made the move.

At Craven Cottage, he has the chance to become a pivotal part of a side challenging for a top 10 and European football place – while at United he’ll be stuck behind players and limited to cameo appearances.

So if McTominay does follow this advice, he could be looking back in a few years and agreeing with Pereira, that this is the best decision he could have possibly made.
