Ruben Amorim was named as one of the key factors for Bruno Fernandes staying at Manchester United in the summer.

Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes showed extreme loyalty in the summer by rejecting a £100 million move to the Saudi Pro League.

In an explosive Fernandes interview, he revealed that he felt as though the club hierarchy wanted him to leave.

But Fernandes also revealed that “a conversation with the manager” made him stay at Old Trafford.

This season, Fernandes has been United’s best player… again. If not for Amorim, the Red Devils would likely be without the Portuguese playmaker this season.

Bruno Fernandes could leave Man United after Ruben Amorim

Now that Ruben Amorim has been sacked by United, there are question marks again about Fernandes’ future.

Fernandes accused United’s ownership of lacking “courage”, and Amorim’s last action as United coach was also to criticise the board and the club hierarchy.

Considering that Fernandes stayed at United following talks with Amorim, it’s easy to see why he could now follow him out the exit door.

Fernandes continues to be linked to Saudi Arabia, and an exit this summer now seems more likely than ever.

Bruno Fernandes contract situation at Man Utd

Currently, Fernandes is under contract until 2027. If United don’t sell this summer, his value will start to drastically drop.

So far, there have been no reports of Fernandes discussing a new contract with United, so Ineos could soon be under pressure to make a decision on his future this summer.

Convincing Fernandes to stay loyal and reject another big-money move to Saudi Arabia could prove difficult, especially with Amorim now out of the equation.

Fernandes is earning £300,000 per week at United but he has more than justified his position as one of the club’s top earners.

His future will likely be decided by who succeeds Amorim as United head coach.
