Manchester United were sunk by two superb Morgan Rogers goals and left Villa Park with no points.

Despite Manchester United losing 2-1 to Aston Villa, there was plenty for Ruben Amorim to like about the performance from his players.

Matheus Cunha scored his third goal of the season, and the Brazilian should have found the back of the net again when he missed a close-range header in the second half.

Ultimately, United were punished for not finishing their chances, while Rogers made two goals out of very little.

Morgan Rogers compliments Man United after brace

Rogers was the star of the show at Villa Park, and his two goals against United add to what is quickly becoming a very impressive catalogue of strikes.

After the full-time whistle, Rogers was quick to heap praise on United as a club.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Rogers said: “It’s massive. Every game is important, there’s no bigger team than Man United.

Who was the Man Utd man of the match in the defeat at Villa?

A positive performance despite the loss… who stood out for you?

“We’ve not had a great record against them, we wanted to put it right and we’re really happy with the three points.”

Rogers has now scored four goals in his last two games and seven in the Premier League this season.

Ineos should be on high alert for Morgan Rogers

Ineos have had huge transfer success shopping in the Premier League.

Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha both arrived from Premier League teams and have hit the ground running at United, and it is a strategy that United should revisit in 2026.

United are linked with Antoine Semenyo as a potential attacking addition, but Rogers’ comments should also catch Ineos’ attention and outline him as a potential future signing.

Rogers spent time in Manchester City’s academy growing up, but like his good friend Cole Palmer, he seems to have a soft spot for the Red Devils.
