Manchester United have wasted no time drawing up a shortlist of candidates to succeed Ruben Amorim as head coach.
It was announced on Monday morning that Manchester United had parted ways with Ruben Amorim following a tepid 14 months.
Amorim challenged Ineos after United’s 1-1 draw with Leeds on Sunday as his job became untenable.
Ruben Amorim SACKED – What is your INSTANT REACTION?
United are positioned 6th in the Premier League and still have a lot to play for, with Darren Fletcher taking over on an interim basis for the upcoming game away to Burnley.
Reports suggest United are eyeing a swoop for Michael Carrick to return for a second stint as interim manager, meaning Fletcher’s run in the hotseat could last just one or two matches.
That means United are willing to wait until the summer to make a permanent appointment for the head coach role.

What Man Utd head coach search means for Man Utd fans
Although United fans will have no real say in the appointment of the next head coach, that won’t stop us from sharing our opinions on the matter.
With there being no real stand-out candidate available, United are being linked with having multiple choices to select from.
Crystal Palace’s Oliver Glasner is the top target on a shortlist consisting of Kieran McKenna (Ipswich Town), Julian Naglesmann (Germany), and Enzo Maresca (recently sacked by Chelsea).
Who do YOU want as the next Man Utd manager?
What traits are you looking for?
The decision is not expected to be made until the summer, so more candidates could emerge by then.
United fans will be paying close attention to Palace and Ipswich Town for the remainder of the season to see how strongly both managers finish the season.
Palace are currently sitting 14th in the Premier League, while Ipswich Town are pushing for promotion back to the top flight.
Glasner has done an impressive job at Selhurst Park, but it’s been widely reported that he could leave at the end of the season.
Meanwhile, Naglesmann will be planning to guide Germany to glory at the World Cup before returning to club football.
All of this means that some United fans will be watching more football than usual over the coming months.
Every Man Utd manager since Sir Alex Ferguson
Fletcher is the club’s 11th manager or head coach – permanent or temporary – since Sir Alex Ferguson retired from the role after 26 years in 2013.
Six of them were permanent managers, including: David Moyes, Louis van Gaal, Jose Mourinho, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Erik ten Hag, and Amorim.
The four interim managers were Ryan Giggs, Carrick, Ralf Rangnick, and Ruud van Nistelrooy.
