A first-team Manchester United player accurately predicted that one key detail could alter his Old Trafford playing career forever after he admitted that “things happen unexpectedly.”
Manchester United are finally back in action after the start of their pre-season campaign last week, with the Red Devils visiting Europe for the start of their tour.
The Red Devils visited the Strawberry Arena in Sweden on Saturday afternoon and United crossed paths with Leeds United in their pre-season opener in Solna.
United and Leeds United played out a 0-0 scoreline in the first half and second half of the friendly, with Ruben Amorim’s men competing in their first match since May.
Ruben Amorim’s side will continue their pre-season training under the 40-year-old United manager before heading to the United States for the next leg of the tour.
United have three matches in the States ahead of returning to Old Trafford to face Serie A outfit Fiorentina on 9th August for their final pre-season match this summer.

Marcus Rashford told Man Utd fans exactly what he felt about his time at Old Trafford and it happened under Ruben Amorim
Marcus Rashford is bound for Barcelona and the 27-year-old ex-Aston Villa star has no further role to play at Old Trafford under Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim.
The England star lost his place in the starting XI under Amorim in the 2024-25 season after the United manager replaced Erik ten Hag in the Old Trafford dugout.
Rashford signed for Aston Villa back in the January window and spent the second half of last season out on loan, but the United talent returned to Old Trafford in July.
The United player had been training alone at the Carrington complex after his loan deal with Villa expired on 30th June and his future at Old Trafford looked bleak.
Rashford rose through the ranks of the United youth academy and had been a mainstay in the Red Devils first-team squad for several former club managers.
The Red Devils talent was previously asked by a United fan if he could see himself becoming a ‘one-club man’ like Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes and Gary Neville.
Rashford said that he could not say for “100 per cent sure” that he would become a one-club man and even suggested the “style” of play could stop it from happening.
“I think, of course, I’d like to, but I think in football nowadays, things happen unexpectedly,” he said in 2021, as per Manchester United’s official website.
“You can never be 100 per cent sure – one, you’re going to be replaced and the club might want to sign somebody else, or maybe the style doesn’t suit you anymore.”
Marcus Rashford’s dreams of becoming a one-club man at Man Utd are over after Ruben Amorim’s arrival
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was a big admirer of the “unbelievable” Rashford and the former United manager had even once tipped him to be a “top, top, top striker.”
“Marcus has been different class since I came,” Solskjaer told Sky Sports in 2018.
Fast-forward to 2025 and Rashford’s fairytale story at Old Trafford is all but over, with the England star playing no role in Amorim’s tactical system for United.
Rashford is set to sign for Barcelona on a season-long loan deal and the La Liga club have the option to buy the ex-Aston Villa forward from United in a permanent deal.
Amorim wasted no time in showing that Rashford wasn’t the ‘right fit’ for his playing style and the Barcelona-bound player’s prediction finally came to fruition.
