Manchester United’s goalless draw against Sunderland won’t have many pulses racing, but Senne Lammens earned a clean sheet.
Despite performing at a high level since arriving, Senne Lammens has been on the end of some true wonderstrikes that have spoiled his clean sheet record.
Against Sunderland, he was on hand to repel every Sunderland effort and was a key reason why Man Utd could have even won at the end.
Ultimately, the 0-0 draw gave him a clean sheet, but the bigger story is how he achieved it.

A first 0-0 of the season, but did anyone stand out for Michael Carrick's side?
Senne Lammens showed elite mentality vs Sunderland
The game against Sunderland came under circumstances that Lammens hadn’t had to face at Old Trafford before.
Against Liverpool in the previous game, he made an error directly leading to a goal, which was a first for him at United.
That came during the build-up phase, long marked as a weakness in the Belgian’s game, even when he was stopping shots for fun.
However, against Sunderland, he quashed the demons of the Liverpool game and showed a much-improved calmness in possession.
He continued to play it short, mixing it up well when Sunderland pressed high as well. There was no error this time, all the while continuing to be a star with his shot-stopping.
It was the sort of game that put it beyond doubt how Lammens has the ability to stay focused and not let his past dictate the present.
He was always talked up as having a steely mentality. Against Sunderland, that was tested for the first time following his Liverpool error.
He came through with flying colours.
Lammens will be a star for Man Utd
If there was any doubt before, Lammens has shown in the last two games that he will be a building block for this club for the next decade.

How he came back from making a major error was the only question mark on his game, and even that remained for so long because he wasn’t making any major errors!
Now that he has come back from it a better player, the sky is the limit for the Belgian.
It must not be forgotten that he’s feasibly more than half a decade away from what is considered to be a goalkeeper’s “peak years”.
If he’s already winning points by putting United on his back during tough games, then it’s not an exaggeration to say that he might be getting called in the same breath as David de Gea/Edwin van der Sar/Peter Schmeichel by the time he calls it a day at United.
