Manchester United fans will now find it hard to argue about the most important call that Ruben Amorim made after he replaced Erik ten Hag at the club.
The 41-year-old Portuguese coach had a rollercoaster of ups and downs during his ill-fated 14-month reign at Old Trafford after his arrival from Sporting CP.
Ruben Amorim made fundamental changes to the Manchester United first-team squad, including axing Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho and Rasmus Hojlund.
The former United manager was sacked back in January, but Amorim’s Red Devils legacy shows that he could not have been more right about Alejandro Garnacho.

What is your message to Alejandro Garnacho after Man Utd do the double over Chelsea in 2025/26…
Alejandro Garnacho is linked with a summer move away from Chelsea and Ruben Amorim has been vindicated
Alejandro Garnacho was seen by some as the ‘future’ of Manchester United after his emergence from the youth academy alongside the likes of Kobbie Mainoo.
However, the 22-year-old Spain-born winger boasted an arrogance for his abilities that did not translate on a regular basis at Man Utd during his time at the club.
Garnacho was ‘found out’ at Old Trafford by none other than Ruben Amorim, who reportedly told him — in a ruthless way — to look for a new club last summer.
Amorim’s stinging remarks towards Garnacho came on the back of the Argentina international speaking out about not starting in the 2025 Europa League final.
Fast-forward from his £40m move to Chelsea in 2025 to July 2026 and Garnacho could now be on the verge of leaving Stamford Bridge this summer.
Journalist Alfredo Pedulla on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, has reported that Italian club Roma have made ‘contact’ with Chelsea about Garnacho.
Was Garnacho’s ‘attitude’ the issue, or is he just not suited to the Premier League’s top level?
The grass is not always greener…
Roma’s transfer interest in Alejandro Garnacho is a sign of where Ruben Amorim deserves his flowers at Man Utd
United fans should talk a lot more about how they managed to capture a £40m transfer fee for Garnacho after his fractured relationship with Amorim.
Garnacho was offered a fresh start at Chelsea last season and the United youth academy product squandered his opportunity to prove all of his critics wrong.
The Chelsea flop only managed to score eight times and picked up four assists in his 43 appearances across all competitions at Stamford Bridge in the 2025-26 campaign.
According to Alfredo Pedulla’s blog, Roma have ‘inquired’ about Garnacho and even the Serie A club is only looking to take the winger out on loan from Chelsea.
Garnacho’s stock value has fallen apart at the Blues and his attitude and arrogance have caught up with him in a big way after his falling out with Amorim at Man Utd.
Amorim might have lost his role at United, but the former Sporting CP boss remains desirable and he returned to management with Serie A outfit AC Milan last month.
Garnacho could well end up crossing paths with former United manager Amorim again if he does leave Chelsea and moves to Roma to play in the Serie A.
